Day Ten

Today I did some stylesheets for a business management website called Wonder. The client wanted her website redone and so I was coming up with the fonts and colour pallette to use. I also had to find some illustrator line brushes that they could use as lines were an important part of the navigation of the website. When she came in she was such a horrible woman, really harsh and unfriendly. She basically dismissed my whole morning’s work and made me feel like shit. I’d used adobe kuler so all the colours worked on black and went well together. But she wanted ‘steely, metallic-looking colours’ which she could have mentioned when briefing us. So I redid everything using her steely blue and other muted horrible colours. Hopefully the company can put them to use when designing stuff for her.

I spent the afternoon working on a pdf for brandnew of a showcase of recent work to gain a new client. They gave me the images and I just had to set it out nicely. It was mainly of web work as this client was interested in setting up a website/intranet. A nice simple job to end my experience. It was a long PDF so here are just a few shots:

I’ve really enjoyed my short time here at BrandNew and feel that I have learnt a lot about how professional designers work. It has cemented in my mind my desire to work at a large design agency as the studio was always buzzing and fun to work in. Adam even said that he would add me to their list of freelancers so he will contact me with jobs and I’d even get paid next time. Lots of thanks to Adam, David, Hannah & Nicki in the print team for looking after me and giving me lots of work to do. The cupcakes were an added bonus!

Now if you’ll excuse me, its my fiance’s birthday so I’m off to celebrate!
